Teams Ranking shows the current power of each lineup that is playing together at the moment. It can be used for invitations and seedings.
How the rating is calculated
The team's rating is equal to the total rating of all players of the main roster.
For what players are awarded rating points
Rating points are awarded only for prize places in tournaments.
World and regional Ranking
Each team has 2 separate rankings: world and regional ones. These rankings are not connected and have no influence on each other. For participating in world tournaments (tournaments where participate teams from 3 or more different regions) players gain world ranking points, for regional tournaments - regional ranking points. Both rankings are calculated same way.
Which player is awarded points
Rating points for the tournament are awarded to the main team roster in equal proportion:
- If the team attends an offline part of a competition, only the offline lineup will be considered;
- If the main roster could not determined by the LAN stage, then the main roster will consist of the players who played the entire tournament for the team;
- If the team roster changes in matches during the tournament, the main roster will consist of the players played most matches;
- If some players have played the same number of matches, the last matches have more weight;
If there are more players in the team than could participate in the match, then the players with the highest rating will be considered (4 players in PUBG, 5 players in Dota 2, etc.).
How many points tournaments give
Tournaments are rated by quality (AAA to D), quantity (x5 to x0) of participants, offline part existence and age of tournament. Amount of rating points depends on the combination of these parameters.
Tournament sizeThe size of the tournament determines the base value of the rating points that players will receive (you can find the point distribution of each size at the end of this document). Types of tournaments by size:
- x5:
- Total participants: 22+
- Participants from the Top N rating of Escorenews.com: 16+
- x4:
- Total participants: 14+
- Participants from the Top N rating of Escorenews.com: 10+
- x3:
- Total participants: 10+
- Participants from the Top N rating of Escorenews.com: 7+
- x2:
- Total participants: 6+
- Participants from the Top N rating of Escorenews.com: 4+
- x1:
- Total participants: 4+
- Participants from the Top N rating of Escorenews.com: 3+
- x0:
- Total participants: 2+
- Prize pool: $1000+
N - is a number that depends on the number of regions participating in the tournament:
- 1 region: N = 24
- 2 regions: N = 12
- 3 regions: N = 8
- >3 regions: N = 6
The tier of the tournament is determined by the number of teams from the Top 12 Escorenews.com regional ratings (ranking at the time tournament starts) participating in tournament. The multiplier by which the base rating points will be multiplied depends on this tier:
- #1 +14 rating
- #2 +13 rating
- #3 +12 rating
- #4 +11 rating
- #5 +10 rating
- #6 +9 rating
- #7 +8 rating
- #8 +7 rating
- #9 +6 rating
- #10 +5 rating
- #11 +4 rating
- #12 +3 rating
Points are multiplied by regional odds that are automatically determined. To calculate regional odds from each region, 5 teams with the highest earnings in world tournaments in the last year are taken. An important rule is that for each tournament a team "can receive" a maximum of $ 1,000,000. The minimum region odds is 0.1. The data obtained are used to determine the odds:
This means that if Top 6 teams from Europe (regional odds at the time of writing = 1.0), Top 3 from China (odds 0.9) and Top 3 from CIS (odds 0.4) participate in the Dota 2 tournament, then it will score 119.7 points (69 * 1.0 points from Europe + 39 * 0.9 points from China and 39 * 0.4 points from the CIS). Possible tiers are:
- AAA (79+ rating): Point Multiplier is 1.00
- AA (62-78 rating): Point Multiplier is 0.80
- A (46-61 rating): Point Multiplier is 0.60
- B (32-45 rating): Point Multiplier is 0.40
- C (15-31 rating): Point Multiplier is 0.25
- D (0-14 rating): Point Multiplier is 0.15
For each tier in each discipline there is a minimum required prize pool determined by Escorenews.com administration:
AAA | AA | A | B | C | D | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
CS:GO | $200,000 | $150,000 | $50,000 | $20,000 | $10,000 | – |
Dota 2 | $200,000 | $150,000 | $50,000 | $20,000 | $10,000 | – |
Hearthstone | $100,000 | $75,000 | $25,000 | $10,000 | $5,000 | – |
LoL | $200,000 | $150,000 | $50,000 | $20,000 | $10,000 | – |
Overwatch | $100,000 | $75,000 | $25,000 | $10,000 | $5,000 | – |
PUBG | $200,000 | $150,000 | $50,000 | $20,000 | $10,000 | – |
Rainbow Six | $200,000 | $150,000 | $50,000 | $20,000 | $10,000 | – |
Valorant | $50,000 | $40,000 | $12,500 | $5,000 | $2,500 | – |
For example, if a Dota 2 tournament receives an AAA tier, but has a prize pool of $175,000, then its tier will be A. Minimum prize pool can be changed by Escorenews.com administration.
LAN partThis additional multiplier depends on ratio of offline teams amount to minimum number of total teams required for a Size (e.g. 22 for x5, 14 for x4 etc.):
- 70-100%: Point Multiplier 1.00
- 50-69.99%: Point Multiplier 0.90
- 30-49.99%: Point Multiplier 0.80
- Less than 30% but at least 2 teams: Point Multiplier is 0.70
- In other cases: Point Multiplier 0.50
This additional multiplier depends on end date of the tournament. More time has passed since end of tournament, less rating points it gives. After 6 months, rating points for tournament will disappear.
- 0 weeks: Point Multiplier 1.00
- 1 week: Point Multiplier 1.00
- ...
- 6 weeks: Point Multiplier 1.00
- 7 weeks: Point Multiplier 0.95
- 8 weeks: Point Multiplier 0.90
- ...
- 24 weeks: Point Multiplier 0.10
- 25 weeks: Point Multiplier 0.05
- >25 weeks: Point Multiplier 0.00
