Gen.G Esports takes trophy of VCT 2024 Masters Shanghai
2024-06-09 13:56:00Gen.G outplayed Heretics in the grand final of VCT 2024 Masters Shanghai. The Koreans won the series 3:2. Despite more or less even games at the start, they destroyed the opponents on the last two maps: Lotus (13:4) and Split (13:3).
Gen.G didn't lose a series during this event, although they often dropped a map. Kim "Karon" Won-tae finished the tournament with the best KDA: 1.78.
This is the first Masters trophy for the Asia-Pacific region after they failed to win in several grand finals, with the last attempt made by Gen.G in Madrid. The Koreans have a good chance to claim the crowning event of the year, as it is held on their home soil. In August, Valorant Champions will be staged in Seoul.
VCT 2024 Masters Shanghai took place from May 23 to June 9. Twelve teams clashed for a share of the million-dollar prize pool, including $350k for the winner. The tournament ran on patch 8.09.
