Fake Escape from Tarkov was published on Steam

Steam listed a fake version of Escape from Tarkov in the online store. The page has screenshots from the original version and sells for $20.5. Make sure to not buy it, as it has nothing to do with its real developer Battlestate Games.

It seems that some people bought the game, and most of the reviews of the fake warn that this is a scam. Luckily, with Steam return policy, the tricked buyers should be able to return their money with no issues, unless they for some reason will keep it launched for more than 2 hours.

The real Escape from Tarkov doesn't have a Steam version and is still in beta. The game can be preordered only through Battlestate Games' launcher on their website and has regional pricing and different editions.

It seems that the fraudsters used the following scheme. They created a game named EFT and posted it on December 27, 2022. Then, on January 24, the descriptions, screenshots, publisher, and other page information were changed to copy Escape from Tarkov.

Battlestate Games commented on the topic. The developers are aware of the fraud and will soon react to it.
