League of Legends patch 14.8 notes: another Skarner update, Baron attacks buff, Briar, LeBlanc, ZAC changes

Riot Games revealed balance changes incoming in patch 14.8 for League of Legends. Over ten champions were buffed including Jarvan IV, Ryze, and Draven. The recently reworked Skarner was adjusted. Baron Nashor was also buffed with damage increase. As usual, lead game designer Matt "Phroxzon" Leung-Harrison added some explanations on X.

Skarner:

Skarner is doing a lot better as players play him, gaining a decent amount of performance day over day. We're targeting some nerfs to bring his Top and Jungle closer in line. We're looking to make some adjustments to make him smoother to play, while trying to keep the impactful feeling of the boulder.

Baron Attacks:

Baron attacks are a little too unthreatening right now. They're not intended to be super threatening as powerful Baron attacks can cause issues with games stalling out and teams being unable to take Barons.

We also don't want to excessively overload players mindshare when taking Barons, but we think there's some room to make them stronger.

Patch 14.8 will come out on April 14. Most of the changes of this update aim to balance the game for Mid-Season Invitational 2024. The tournament kicks-off on May 1 in Chengdu. Previously, Riot hotfixed Skarner between the patches, as the champion was stronger in Top lane than in the jungle.
