Hackers stole "experimental" source code in Riot Games attack, developers warn about possible cheats and leaks2023-01-24 16:28:00
Riot Games revealed more details of the cyber attack that happened on January 21 and its possible consequences for their titles, League of Legends, Valorant, and TFT. According to the company's official Twitter, they received a ransom demand but refused to pay it.
Riot Games doubled down on its statement about personal data. They claimed to have investigated the leak in-depth and didn't find anything that could harm a regular user. The developers are also started working with law-enforcing structures to help investigate the attack.
The stolen data contains the source code of their unspecified products. The developers think it will "increase the likelihood of new cheats emerging." However, they're already updating the anticheats to mitigate future damage.
Riot Games also noted that hackers stole some experimental features. There's less danger with those since they were mostly prototypes that might never see the light of day.
