Faker feels "so sorry" for RNG having to replay matches at MSI 2022

T1 legendary mid laner Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok empathized with his opponents from Royal Never Give Up. Recently, they had to replay their matches during Mid-Season Invitational 2022 because of the Riot's mistake with ping delay. Faker shared his thoughts with Dot Esports during a brief interview.

Faker said that he feels "so sorry" for the teams as all he wants for the players is to compete in "equal circumstances".

I believe [the process] happened because Riot Games was not able to deal with those ping and that org issue beforehand and that was the kind of aftermath of it.

The issue happened after Riot implemented a 35ms ping delay for every participant so that RNG could play remotely from China on equal terms. But later, the tournament operator discovered that three of the group stage matches had a longer delay for those playing from Korea. RNG replayed and won every game again, finishing their group with a 6-0 record.

As for Faker's team, they also felt problems due to the ping delay. He hopes this issue didn't spoil the fans' enjoyment.

[Higher ping] did impact our play, and still it is kind of impacting our performance.

With MSI Group Stage concluded, six teams proceeded to the Rumble Stage. These are T1, RNG, G2, Saigon Buffalo, Evil Geniuses, and PSG Talon. The four best squads will compete for the playoff spots.
