LPL Spring Final will be played online due to COVID-192022-04-16 08:03:00
The LPL 2022 Spring final will be played remotely due to the COVID-19 situation and lockdowns in China. It will be held on April 23.
The organizers already postponed the matches in the league twice before that. The reason for that is the lockdown in Shanghai, where the number of cases is steadily growing over the last few weeks. While lockdown restrictions were partially eased in some areas on April 12, the government is sticking to its harsh approach to contain the spread of the virus.
At the point of writing, there are four matches left to play in LPL 2022 Spring. Victory Five is currently fighting against JD Gaming, while the upper stage final between Top Esports and Royal Never Give Up is planned for April 17. The matches are played online.
LNG mid laner Kim "Doinb" Tae-sang previously said that the LPL winner might have issues with attending Mid-Season Invitational 2022. Upon return from abroad, the team will have to spend 21 days of quarantine and health monitoring, which means that it might miss the start of the next split. Because of that, the winner of the LPL might decline the invitation.
