G2 won LEC 2022 Spring and returned to MSI for the first time since 2019

G2 Esports surprisingly beat Rogue in the LEC 2022 Spring Grand Final and won the champions title for the first time since Summer 2021. The match ended with a scoreline of 3:0 while all the maps were not stomped, and every game lasted more than 30 minutes.

Standings

Rogue were the favorites of the match-up but G2 were in the driver's seat for the first two maps. They knew their power spikes and used them extremely well winning the crucial team fights.

On the third map, the hope was alive for Rogue's fans for 22 minutes before their team lost the fight near Baron. With Nashor, G2 took tower by tower and ended the series. They will play at Mid-Season Invitational for the first time since 2019 when they claimed the title. In 2020, the event was canceled due to the COVID outbreak, while in 2021 MAD Lions represented Europe.

Earlier, on April 10, another MSI participant was revealed as DFM yet again won LJL. DFM and G2 joined T1 and Wildcats in the list of the title contenders.
