Faker was offered $20 million a year to compete in China

T1 CEO Joe Marsh became a guest in a recent podcast "Trash Talk with Doublelift". He spoke on players' contracts and possible transfers. Marsh confirmed that Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok got a crazy offer from an unknown club from China.

Faker has his family, and that's really important to him. He doesn't need money, like, he has money, he's super successful, he's made really strong investments in Korea. I mean, there's literally a building he owns, called Faker Tower. He's done great financially. It’s about where he thinks he can compete the most and when.

He always gets offers, even this offseason. I had to fly to Korea after the free agency started, because he was a free agent. And every time he's a free agent the offer from China comes in, it's, you know, $20 million a year.

T1 won the LCK Spring 2022 finals over Gen.G Esports 3:1. Team claimed their 10th championship in the regional league without losing a single match in the whole split. Right now Faker and his team are planning to compete at MSI 2022, which will take place in Busan, South Korea in May.
