Dataminer: "I'm 90% sure there will be no Battle Pass like it was in 2015-2022"
2025-04-18 16:49:00Dataminer Kirill "Fay" Serdyukov shared his opinion on rumors about a Battle Pass for The International 2025. He thinks Valve won't return to the format of previous years. However, he also believes that the developers will abandon Compendium in its last form, since "nobody needs it." The dataminer gave his take on Telegram.
I'm 90% sure there will be no Battle Pass like it was in 2015-2022. According to Valve, the development of BP took over a year, and they could manage anything in time during Crownfall. It's nearly impossible for them to have a proper Battle Pass ready before September. But I also don't believe that in the current conditions and tendencies of Dota 2, they'll release Compendium as it was, because nobody needs it. If to compare 2023 and 2024, the latter Compendium was more exciting, at least because of the effigies (you can at least see them in-game).
My personal opinion is that there's a chance to see something like Nemestice (I shall remind you that it was a replacement for Battle Pass, caused by the pandemic, which was essentially a cropped BP with Arcana, Persona, Immortal Chest and 500 levels). This solution wouldn't require long development, and would at least partially boost TI's prize pool. After the content pause, I think players would have a positive perception.

Rumors about Battle Pass's return started circulating this spring. It's unclear what exactly caused them. Some believe that the developers teased the update at the end of Crownfall. They mentioned "new guiding stars," and TI14 has exactly that kind of aesthetics.
We've really enjoyed getting to tell a story taking place in the realms of Skywrath, Druud and Icewrack. But there are so many more realms to explore. And so it's time for us to put the Ghastly Eyrie behind us, at least for now, and point our compasses at some new guiding stars. We'll see you there.

Valve abandoned the annual Battle Pass in 2023, replacing it with Compendium without in-game cosmetics. As a result, The International's prize pool has been shrinking each year since. Instead, the developers presented Crownfall. The event with four acts lasted for roughly half a year and was praised by the community.
