Skiter on Falcons staying together after TI13: "We were joking about Malr1ne, but in reality we didn't want to change anything"
2024-10-14 16:26:00Falcons Dota 2 player Oliver "skiter" Lepko shed some light on the team's decision to keep the roster after The International 2024. He said that they were disappointed with their finish at the event but decided to stick together. Also, the players' contracts didn't let others to "get them out that easy." The interview was recorded before PGL Wallachia S2 and released on the broadcast on the final day.
We had a pretty big talk after TI because we got top-4, which is objectively a pretty good result but we had higher expectations and wanted to win the whole thing. It wasn't really devastating but really sad for us to not go higher than that. But we talked afterwards and realized that we had a pretty successful season. We won a lot of tournaments, and we figured out that was a space for us to improve individually and as a team. We decided to give it one more year and see how it goes.
[Did you consider offers from other teams?] Not really, because our contracts last a bit longer than this, so it wasn't that easy to get us out anyway. We were joking about Malr1ne, but in reality we didn't want to change anything.
Falcons made it to the grand finals of PGL Wallachia S2. Despite no top-tier opposition, the team failed to beat Heroic in the grand final. The South American squad brought home the first international LAN trophy in history of the region. After the tournament, Malr1ne explained their performance with poor preparation and bad luck. He also credited the Peruvian carry for his outstanding performance.
