Ceb after Riyadh Masters exit: "I feel like I'm reaching the limits of how many disappointments I can take" Interview
2024-07-18 14:55:00OG captain Sebastien "Ceb" Debs gave an exit interview after their loss against PSG Quest and elimination from Riyadh Masters 2024. He revealed that he wouldn't attend Elite League S2, focusing on parenting. One line sounded like Ceb would consider retirement but he ended the interview on a positive note.
Big disappointment. I strongly believe that the standards we've built could've brought us up to the top 3 this tournament. Obviously, it's a tough pill to swallow. <...>
I will not be attending Elite League. It's public knowledge that I became a father recently, so I'm going to focus on that for now. I also feel like I'm reaching the limits of how many disappointments I can take. Because I really tried my hardest this tournament. I believe we built something strong but didn't get to show it to the world and the fans, which is my biggest disappointment. Other teams saw it behind closed doors, I think they also expected us to place high. We had a great momentum coming into this.
Ceb's plans after Riyadh Masters
Parenthood, I guess. Not so far from what I've been doing this entire season [laughs]. Hopefully, I'm good enough at that. Now, I'm just excited to release part of that pressure. Chill a bit, because this was an exhausting process but a good one, nonetheless. I'm really proud of the boys. There was a lot of hard work and dedication.
Competition is tough, it doesn't always pay out as you expected to. I just hope a lot of lessons were learned. But life goes on, and you move forward. At this point, everything seems to be dark, but it's not that dark. You wake up the next day, you wake up, and you're back at it. Maybe even on the same day, if you're tough enough.
OG are out of the biggest events of this year. They exit Riyadh Masters as 9th-12th team earning $100k. They had a decent performance in group stage, which didn't convert into playoff success, as they lost to Tundra 0:2 and PSG Quest 1:2.
