Gpk~: "I was tilted when I came back from The International and had to play qualifiers in 1.5 weeks" Interview
2023-12-12 16:25:00BetBoom midlaner Danil "gpk~" Skutin was disappointed with the necessity of playing ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 qualifiers shortly after TI12. In an interview with CrystalMay on a Russian-language broadcast, he said he'd prefer to have a whole month break and not play Dota 2 at all.
I didn't actually keep myself in shape. I was titled when I came back from The International and had to play qualifiers [for Kuala Lumpur] in 1.5 weeks. And then I had to play Dota, while I planned not to touch it for about a month. So, I maintained some shape.
I wouldn't participate in this event at all, but I had to because this tournament is important for future events. There are points and spots. They said we must attend. I'd chill for the rest of the year. I'd sit at home, walk, ice skate, or go to the cinema. Well, all the default things. I'd go to the gym, as well.
On post-TI changes
We had a talk, discussed the issues and what to fix, and found some common ground. Now we're looking at how things will develop this season. <...> We got a guy who helps us with statistics, and so on. [Can you name him?] No.
BetBoom had a mediocre start at Kuala Lumpur 2023. In the group stage, they played four matches, each resulting in a draw, even against the underdogs from Wawitas sagazes. They will face Blacklist International in the final match of the group on December 13.
