Gpk~: "It's rare to learn something new at the top level. All the things are in your head, you just need to remember them" Interview

BetBoom Team's Danil "gpk~" Skutin enjoys the unchanged mid-lane dynamics amidst a massive overhaul of the other parts of Dota 2 map of patch 7.33. He thinks that his role is currently in a good place, learning towards execution. Gpk~ shared this and other thoughts in an interview with Cyber.Sports.ru.

Mid lane in patch 7.33

Dota has changed, but mid remained intact. It's easier for mid players because of that. I like it. <...>

I don't know how you would change mid. There were a lot of patches in the past: skill was initially crucial, then they added this camp [small camp near tier-1 towers], and then it's gone, so it's about skill again. Mid is currently stable, just like it should be.

Templar Assassin was your favorite hero. What about her today?

I think TA can be played as a carry. She has a lot of counter-picks in this meta, but you can find your way around it. I know it as a TA player. You need to be able to flex, understand how she's working. The heroine is viable, but counter-picks mess with her: Terrorblade, Phantom Lancer. They are hard to play against.

On cooperation with TORONTOTOKYO as former mid player

We are not practicing [1v1] but always share opinions on matchups. He was a mid player in the past, so why not use that?

I wouldn't say I learned something new [from him]. Dota is such a game where you develop with the team. At the tier-1 level, it's rare to learn something really new. All the things are in your head. You just need to remember them.

On their Major perfomances

First Major we were taken down by the preparation; we got sick. At the second one, we started great and then nothing worked for some reason. I think… we need to focus more on other stuff. Communicate more with each other. I think it will be better from now on. I also took a bit of a break, so I will come back well-rested and in full power.

On RAMZES's beef with Quinn

I think it's always a show for the viewers. Why not? It has a f**king nice background. Previously everyone hated Quinn, and now he developed and plays really well. It's fun to watch all that.

Is BetBoom a team of friends?

Friends is such a word... I think we have close relations. I have Gleb Kiyotaka, and he's a friend of mine. For me, friends are someone you can always be next to.
