Fans were quick to catch "this team" part of Cloud9 CEO statement. The organization has a rich history in Dota 2, but is absent on the scene since the short stint in 2020. It ended after the roster with Jacky "EternaLEnVy" Mao and TI11 champion Wu "Sneyking" Jingjun was disbanded.

The rumors came from a reputable Russian insider Spiralka talking about the possible organizations trying to sign ex-Evil Geniuses roster. He dismissed T1 and TSM involvement, said that he had no idea about Sentinels, and claimed that 100 Thieves and Cloud9 are holding negotiations.

Ex-Evil Geniuses roster was released from the organization on November 15. Team captain Tal "Fly" Aizik announced that they will continue playing together with a "similar roster".
