Team Spirit manager: "We didn't prepare for Arlington Major at all" Interview

Team Spirit manager Dmitry "Korb3n" Belov revealed that the team didn't prepare for PGL Dota 2 Major Arlington 2022. Because of the visa issues and busy schedule, they simply had no real chance to do it. He spoke about it for the team channel video blog, recorded before the playoffs.

After the DPC league where we performed badly ended, we flew straight to Riyadh Masters 2022. Then we were told that we would probably get visas, so we went to Israel to make the papers. We didn't prepare for this tournament [Arlington Major] at all. For two days we stayed in Belgrad and played some scrims. But since every team was already in America, we had nobody to play with. We spent some time in Belgrad and came here. In fact, all the preparation we had was here or in Saudi Arabia.

On Team Spirit's best form

It's very hard for me to say when we performed at peak form. For example, in Riyadh, I saw the same thing as at TI10: explosive team, it was great. Speaking of its final, we didn't prepare, we were preparing [only] to defeat Secret. Back at TI we had some time after beating Team Secret, but didn't have such opportunity in Riyadh.

On the Major conditions and organization

What can I say about this tournament… Given that I've been to a large number of events, I’d rate this one at 5 out of 10. There are really responsive PGL employees, I really like them. I've been saying since TI that they always speak directly and honestly, but the overall level of organization is very lame.

Starting with the fact that there is no place to eat, we literally have to sit on the floor. Speaking of the benefits, there were almost no problems with the Internet, only on the first day, but it was not a cutoff, there was a packet loss, and it was okay. The biggest problem was the savings on tickets by the tournament operator as they were tightly booked. <...> The cheapest tickets gave us an enormous number of troubles. It's been a week in the tournament, and Illya [Yatoro] still can not find his luggage, while PGL and the airport can’t help us.
