Nightfall: "It's the worst way to get to TI. So there's not so much joy about it" Interview

Evil Geniuses offlaner Egor "Nightfall" Grigorenko was unhappy with the way his team qualified for The International 2022. He shared his expectations from the upcoming tournament, speaking to Russian YouTuber Mrs. Marple during PGL Dota 2 Major Arlington 2022.

Let's say It's the worst way to get to The International. So there isn't too much joy about it, to be honest. We have thoughts on how to upgrade our game. I don't know if we'll have enough time for that. We need to fix so many things before TI. We'll see if we can manage it or not. Personally, I have an understanding of how to do it.

Comparing the mentality difference between NA and EEU

Speaking of mentality, Evil Geniuses is a more professional team [compared to EEU]. People here see the game as a job. Nobody flames anyone or raises his voice. Everyone is respectful. It's a default mentality for EU and NA, so to say, PMA.

If we compare it to Eastern Europe, it's pretty common for someone to become toxic after a bad game, and I was there too. Or somebody can get emotional and explain things too loud. These stories are quite common there.

Evil Geniuses qualified for TI11 despite exiting the major at the beginning of the playoffs. Nightfall and the team lost to Entity 1:2 and dropped out of the tournament on 9-12 place. A bit later, beastcoast defeated Fnatic and denied their attempt at overtaking EG in DPC standings.
