Ceb: "Winning a Major has its upsides and downsides. We don't have a 10:0 advantage because of it" Interview2022-08-06 17:09:00
Sebastian "Ceb" Debs spoke about OG's progress at PGL Dota 2 Arlington Major 2022. After day 1, he was happy about their development but allowed himself to criticize his teammates for overestimations after the ESL Major Stockholm victory.
Winning a Major has its upsides and downsides. I think, some players maybe tend to have more expectations for how the games are supposed to go. That's a bit... Games are not supposed to go anywhere. You just have to deliver. Doesn't matter if you won the Major. We're going into these games with the same handicap as the others. We don't have, like, a 10:0 advantage because we're the Major winners. There's no such thing. I think it helps players to have that кшпрек mindset, going into Dota.
What's his personal impact on the team as the stand-in
I get to bring a little more on the experience side directly within the team. As much as I try helping them from outside of the competition, I think, when you're in the heat of the moment, back against the wall, in these really tense emotional situations, I can impact the team's mindset and personal levelup much more.
In that sense, it's very positive. Also, Misha kinda sits back in. He had more experience with me and N0tail because he was coaching us at TI10. They didn't. So they're kinda catching up on Misha's mindset.
What are the expectations in Arlington
No expectations, in a sense we don't pressure ourselves into anything. At the same time, we're here to win. Obviously, we won't settle until we win the tournament.
The biggest thing for us in the group stage is to learn. About ourselves, about our opponents. Because you get the teams from all around the world, teams with great approaches to the game. What has been great, we learn a lot in both aspects. And I think that the good sequences and peaks that we had were really high, so I'm super happy on day one.
Ceb stands in for OG for the second time this year. His previous stint was a great success, as the squad won the Major in Stockholm. Their run in Arlington doesn't look that great; in the middle of the third day, the team still has no victories, placing among the worst teams in group A. They are currently playing against RNG.
