Fnatic are "sent home" by Rare Atom from Shanghai Major with 0-3 record
2024-12-01 09:46:00Fnatic lost to Rare Atom in the elimination match of the opening stage at Shanghai Major 2024. They failed the series 1-2, providing no resistance on the last map — Ancient (13:10), Inferno (10:13) и Vertigo (4:13).
Fnatic is first to leave Shanghai. This the worst result for the organization at the Majors they have ever attended. During one of the last rounds, Chinese squad started a chant. The casters didn't spare Fnatic, suggesting that fans were shouting "Send them home."
The result most likely ruins most of the Pick'Ems, as many analysts predicted Fnatic to go through to the next stage. At the same time, Rare Atom and FlyQuest were some of the most popular choices to leave the event as 0-3 teams.
However, the weak state of Fnatic was somewhat expected based on RMR results. The team was stomped by top teams, and barely made it to Shanghai after beating some noname squads. They only qualified after a full bo3 against Dynamo Eclot, which ended in overtime of last map.
