S1mple starts comeback to CS2 with terrible map, turns on beast mode on second

Ukrainian superstar Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev played his debut bo3 for Falcons after the announced comeback to CS2. The team lost first series at Thunderpick World Championship 2024 against 3DMAX with a score of 0:2, and the AWPer's performance across these two maps was drastically different.

He finished the first game with 6 kills and 14 deaths, averaging 40 ADR. S1mple had little professional experience on Anubis, with only 12 matches on record before this. This was 3DMAX's map pick, although this is also the best map for Falcons. S1mple had a great flash assist that won them a post-pistol force buy, crucial on CT-side. He also single-handedly won another round. Other than that, he had little to no contribution. Anubis was lost 10:13.

On the second map, Nuke, s1mple demonstrated his best. He had 27 kills across 22 rounds with 125 ADR and finished the game with 1.72 HLTV rating. The AWPer also almost made an ace-clutch while winning one of the most crucial rounds on T-side. The rest of Falcons, however, were nowhere near his level, so they lost Nuke 9:13.

CS2 Thunderpick World Championship 2024 runs from October 21 to November 3. The top four of the event will play on LAN in Berlin. Before that part, Falcons will attend LAN event, ESL Challenger Katowice 2024, which starts on October 25. In the first round, they'll face SAW.

Next, s1mple and Falcons will play elimination game against the loser of the match between Virtus.pro and OG. The game will start today, October 21 at 17:30 CEST.
