FalleN: "This game wasn't about NAVI not showing up. We played superb, we played so different" Interview
2024-10-10 15:34:00FURIA captain Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo shared his thoughts after beating NAVI in the final match of Group A at IEM Rio 2024. He commented on team progress and explained how they managed to achieve the victory. The legendary Brazilian shared this in the post-match interview on the official broadcast.
We're getting to a point where we are doing things very well. And we know what to expect from each other. And the results are started showing, so I'm very happy.
NAVI are very, very strong team, super difficult to play against. I think in this match we had an upper hand in terms of positioning. I felt that their game plan was to go B on Mirage from the very beginning. Luckily I was there with the AWP most of the time. During the series we knew what to do and what to expect, and that helped us a lot. We changed our game a little bit. I know that B1ad3 prepares a lot for the opponents, they are a good team, so you gotta bring some spicy things you never did.
We have been working so long to be able to play like this, so it definitely didn't feel easy. It feels different and tough. I know that from a spectator point of view, NAVI are used to play so much better, wrecking every game. But when you have someone on the other side putting so many problems for you, solving every situation you want to put in the game, it becomes a harder match. This game wasn't about NAVI not showing up. We played superb, we played so different, and very well.
NAVI is currently ranked number one in the world. FURIA defeated them 2:0 (13:10, 13:4) and secured 3rd-4th finish at IEM Rio. Aside from few LANs with lower-level opposition, they never been that high since the home Major in November 2022, hosted in the same city. In the semi-final on October 11, Fallen and his men will face Vitality or MOUZ.
IEM Rio 2024 runs from October 4 to 13 in Brazil. 16 teams compete for a share of $250k prize pool. Earlier, G2 Esports exited the event with zero maps won, and Nikola "NiKo" Kovac had his worst career performance.
