Dataminer: Operation might've been postponed, Danger Zone files get updated in CS2 Rumors
2024-10-07 13:03:00Dataminer shared leaks found in CS2 files after The Armory update. Some lines of code suggest that the developers chose to release a cosmetic update instead of an Operation due to the game's unpolished state. He posted his findings on the YouTube channel Prom_molekura.
The dataminer thinks Valve didn't want to risk releasing missions and similar content to avoid exploits and bugs, and decided to ship a cosmetics-related patch instead, as potentially least damaging. An example of the issue is the ongoing abuse of XP farming for Armory Passes. The developers had to release three patches after the main update to fix these loopholes.
Earlier, another dataminer, GabeFollower, suggested, based on the file changes, that the developers would not release new Operations at all.
There are also leaks related to Danger Zone. The dataminer showed renewed lines that show items exclusive to this mode, such as tablet, bump mines, and bare fists. This doesn't mean that Danger Zone is guaranteed to return, but such activity shows that it wasn't completely abandoned. The previously discovered taunt animations also received some updates.
Shortly after the CS2 first anniversary, the game received The Armory update in early October. Previously rumored keychains have made it to the game as Charms. The event featured three weapon collections, a new Gallery Case, an exclusive Heat Treated Desert Eagle, along with new stickers and other cosmetics. The items are unlocked via Armory Pass, which costs $16.
