M0NESY shares advice he gave to donk, talks about their career differences
2024-10-01 10:06:00G2 Esports player Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov compared his and Danil "donk" Kryshkovets's careers in CS. He shared that there was significant pressure on him since he started streaming at 14 years old. Ilya thinks that Team Spirit's prodigy avoided that until his famous breakout at IEM Katowice 2024. He discussed this in an interview with OkkoCyber on YouTube.
I would say that not everyone faces this burden so early. I started streaming when I was 14, and there was such hype around me. People had some expectations. For example, donk didn't have it. He got that much attention only after some time, let's say, after the victory in Katowice. In my case, it happened instantly, and people started expecting something from me. There were a lot of bad messages and words. But it's hard to say if our career rise was different or not.
M0NESY and donk know each other pretty well, by his own admission. He shared that once he gave an advice to the younger star related to his shouts at LANs.
We had a chat when we flew to a tournament, we were on the same plane. He's a good guy. I talked to him, and he's great. I know people have weird reactions to his shouts on LAN. I have no issues with that. I had my doubts when we played at IEM Katowice, and he yelled some nasty things. And because you can hear what exactly he shouts in YouTube clips, I advised him to choose other words, because people are different, and he can receive a lot of negativity. But this is the game, the emotions. I think it's fine.
M0NESY and donk's career share a lot of similarities. At 15, the latter was also streaming, although he wasn't as popular. He also got into FPL at a similar age. Both were boosted by academies before going professional. At BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2023, the rifler demonstrated what he was capable of to a broader audience. And annoyed many viewers with his shouts, some of which were slurs, forbidden on Twitch. Currently, donk has almost caught up with m0NESY by the amount of significant LAN trophies and surpassed him by the number of MVP awards.
