"He is not a pussy AWPer, he is a shotgun AWPer. Him playing aggressively broke their strats". KSCERATO and FalleN talk about recent form of FURIA's IGL Exclusive
2024-08-28 16:18:00FURIA's leader Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo recently played his best matches since 2022 in terms of individual performance. We asked the legendary captain and his teammate Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato about this sudden change in form at BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024 #2 from FISSURE.
FalleN explained that he did not do anything complicated to achieve his current form. Toledo thinks that improvement of FURIA played a big hand into his performance. But he noted that he also found more space for himself as well.
Definitely, I can feel it [that I'm in my best form now], I'm playing much better. I can’t say that I did something special for it. I think it's just a combination of things. First, the team being on the same page, we have been trying to find that form and understanding on how we want to approach the game and have everyone communicate properly and understand the same ideas, and react faster. A lot of my energy goes into making the team grow as a whole piece. And second thing, at this tournament I have found more space for myself as well. Finding that balance is what's allowing me to play at the best I can. I feel very happy about it.
KSCERATO also appreciated his captain's current form. When talking about it after beating 9Pandas and reaching playoffs, he called FalleN a "shotgun AWPer" and said that his aggressive plays threw a wrench into their executes, making them waste utility on cancelled executes.
FalleN found his game. He is not a pussy AWPer, he is a shotgun AWPer. He goes for aggressive plays. I think his style is good, because if they fall back from their execute, they spent a lot of smokes and flashbangs on it, and it's all wasted now. Everyone in this tournament knows how to execute step by step, and I think FalleN playing aggressively broke their strats.
While Toledo acknowledged his personal improvement and growth of FURIA, he was still quite reserved when asked about their next opponent, Team Spirit. He complimented the future opponents and said that he will be happy with any result if FURIA players will be able to show their game.
Playing Team Spirit is always tough. They have so much talent, chopper is a great IGL, sh1ro is one of the best AWPers of recent times. It's going to be a very tough match, I don't know if we will manage to show our game or not, hopefully we will. But what matters the most for me is going there and doing the best we can. Let's see where we are at, as long as we are going to play our game, it doesn't matter for me if we are going to win or lose. I just want to make sure that we are playing in the way that we believe is right, and making the plays that we want to do.
FURIA will meet Team Spirit on August 29, at 21:30 CEST. The winner of this match will proceed to upper bracket final, while the second team will fall down to the lower bracket.
