BLAST forbids Snap Tap usage on its tournaments, following Valve's ban on it
2024-08-21 10:52:00Tournament organizer BLAST announced it won't be allowing usage of Snap Tap and similar features on its events. The reveal came soon after Valve restricted this functionality in Counter-Strike 2. It was shared in a statement for HLTV.
The limitation only involves Snap Tap, but the statement did not mention the incredibly popular jumpthrow scripts. It's not clear if this part will not be enforced, or the representative decided to only talk about Snap Tap for now. Under the current BLAST rules, jumpthrow scripts are allowed.
Snap Tap and similar binds were banned in Counter-Strike 2 at August 20. Valve decided to limit the ways to make more than one action with one press of a button, and jumpthrow scripts fell victim to that for better consistency. The players who are using those on official servers are getting kicked out in the lobby for automation.
This decision created a big discussion in the community if these scripts needs to be allowed to increase strategic depth of the game. Even among professional players there is no agreement on that, as many are saying they are perfectly able to hit jump-throw smokes without any assistance, and it is worth it to lose those to get rid of Snap Tap.
