M0NESY: "In a Russian-speaking team, I would throw off the chains. Communicating in English is a bit pressuring"
2024-08-17 15:40:00G2 Esports sniper Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov appeared as a guest on Russian community cast of IEM Cologne 2024. During the conversation, he was asked if his performance would increase in a native-speaking team. The player responded positively as it would boost communication and make things easier.
[Would you play even better in a Russian-speaking team?] I think so. I would throw off the chains. Communicating in English creates a bit of pressure. You have to constantly focus on information from your teammates in the game. This takes longer than in would be in Russian.
G2 Esports failed to beat MOUZ in the quarterfinal of IEM Cologne 2024. Ilya was the top fragger on the server, averaging 1.39 HLTV rating but he couldn't carry the squad to victory. Their next event is ESL Pro League S20, kicking-off on September 3.
It's not the first time m0NESY speaks about a potential move to a Russian-speaking team. In March, he supposed that Cloud9 would be a fitting destination in theory. There were also multiple rumors about possible transfer of the star AWPer, but they never materialized.
