CS2 pro Joel is banned by Akros anti-cheat, his team BC Game starts investigation

BC.Game CS2 player Joel "joel" Holmlund was banned by Arkos anti-cheat at CCT Season 2 Europe #7. The Swedish player missed the first map against B8 in the playoffs, unable to join the server. The TO issued the team a default loss after getting confirmation from Akros team that there was no mistake about the ban.

Later, the AC devs confirmed this in a comment to HLTV. They said there was "zero chance" that joel's block was false positive. Shortly after, BC Game announced benching the Swede and starting their own investigation.

We are currently conducting our own investigation to thoroughly examine the claims made," the statement says. "We want to support joel during these suspicions until evidence is presented to us in black and white. Our priority is to uphold the integrity of the game and our organization.

BC.Game strongly opposes cheating in any form, and for that reason, we have removed Joel from the current roster. Despite previous suspicions, we chose to place our trust in a young player who had made previous missteps. At this moment, we cannot provide further comments because, like you, we are in the dark. Joel was banned by ESIC in 2023 for match-fixing at BetBoom Playlist Urbanistic, which he played with GODSENT. According to the commission, he bet against their team in one of the matches. However, ESIC lifted the sanctions in January 2024. They explained it with insufficient evidence, although they didn't entirely clear Joel. His cooperation during the investigation helped to lift the ban. The player denied match-fixing and blamed his gambling addiction for the bets he made.

Joel has been competing since 2019. His best team was Monte in 2022, and he was on a trial period in TSM for three months at the beginning of 2024. There's no significant difference in his online and LAN performances throughout his career. If anything, he played better offline. Joel had a significant upgrade in performance this year, going from a 1.12 HLTV rating in 2023 to 1.27 in 2024.
