Twistzz: "No regrets about becoming an IGL, not at all. It's super fun" Interview
2024-08-04 08:42:00Team Liquid's IGL Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken commented on their run at BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2024 in a post-match interview after beating NAVI. He praised his teammate Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak and revealed how much freedom they gave to the inexperienced AWPer.
I'm super proud of my team and our CT sides. It's a lot about a lot of our team communicating. I'm super happy with how our team played, good initiative. You'd think NAF is like a passive slow player, but this is not the case. Everyone is shining, and most of all, I'm super proud of ultimate. He's putting out big numbers and big performance at the time when we needed that. <...>
We just gave him reassurance from other maps. Even though he wasn't fragging on Anubis or Nuke, after all, he does have freedom to control it. He can move us, he can decide if we're leaving the site and he's going to be playing there or not. It's more about comforting him and giving him the confidence to put us in our place, pretty much. And it can be scary to move me, NAF, or jks and position us, but he did it well on Inferno.
On new IGL role
No regrets about becoming an IGL, not at all. It's super fun. If I didn't, I wouldn't get to play with amazing players like ultimate and jks. Everything happens for a reason. This game and tournament were a learning experience.
Liquid's new roster went undefeated in Fall Groups. First, they took down Virtus.pro, and then twice beat the current number 1 team in the world, NAVI. On August 7, they will play at IEM Cologne 2024.
