PGL will host first Counter-Strike 2 Major in Copenhagen in March 2024

PGL announced the first Major in history based on Counter-Strike 2. The event will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark, from March 17 to 31, 2024. The official reveal came out on Twitter.

One of the greatest games of all time is marching to another chapter, and we couldn't be happier to host probably the most important Major of the franchise in recent years. Denmark has a rich esports heritage, and we are excited to bring the world's best Counter-Strike teams to Copenhagen to compete for the game's most prestigious title. Our ambition for PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 is to break the game's all-time viewership records.

Silviu Stroie, PGL CEO

Copenhagen CS2 Major will be staged in Royal Arena. Like before, 24 teams will attend the event, competing for $1.25 mln of prize money. There is no information on RMR circuit so far.

The event will be the first ever to use the updated game with the new Source 2 engine. The last and only CS:GO Major of 2023 will be BLAST Paris Major. The second event of that year was canceled due to the transition to CS2.
