G2 CEO ocelote resigns following Andrew Tate scandal and miss on VCT slot2022-09-24 03:09:00
G2 Esports accepted the resignation of its CEO Carlos "ocelote" Rodriguez. Most likely it was caused by a scandal with infamous influencer Andrew Tate and the miss on the franchising slot for VCT 2023 in Valorant.
G2 released a statement, saying that the organization "take responsibility for our fans, employees, team members, and partners" and "do not support any form of misogyny".
The news came after G2 Esports missed on the Valorant franchising slot. According to neL, Riot Games withdrew the decision to give them one in NA last minute because of the scandal. If that's true, it's possible that ocelote was forced to resign by the company, since his actions in social media might've caused G2 a serious financial loss. All players of Valorant roster are allowed to look for other teams now.
Rodrigues got into the scandal after publishing a video from G2 celebration of making it to Worlds 2022. Fans spotted Andrew Tate among the participants and questioned ocelote. He dismissed the criticism, saying that he will "party with whoever the fuck" he wants.
