How to play retake, surf/KZ, DM, and other community servers in CS2 beta. How to download and install custom map in CS2

Valve adds another wave of invites to CS2, and many players want to have the opportunity to play community server modes. Specific DMs, Retakes, surf and KZ options are not available in CS2, but there is a way to play them using third-party servers. And here's how to do it.

How to join community servers in CS2

Some websites have been running their own servers pretty much since the launch of the beta. They offer most of the popular modes like surf and retake and even some of their own. For example, you can play pistol or AWP-only deathmatches. Follow one of the links and pick the mode you want.

No need to create an account or log in using Steam, just copy the server IP address. Examples below:

Cybershoke
Dathost

Next, launch your CS2 beta. Open the console with "~" (If it doesn't work, enable the developer console in settings -> game). Paste the copied IP address, and the game will start loading the server. If there's an error saying "map has not been found," use the second part of our guide below.

Upon entering CS2, you will be able to install the map via the console. Press "~" and type: map X (Replace "X" with the downloaded map's name). The game will launch the map after that.
