"Individually G2 are great. But as a team — no". Boombl4 on Legends Stage, preparation, and his dreams to be a massage therapist Exclusive
[On preparations for Heroic]
We had a day off after making it to the playoffs with 3-0. Then we had two prac days, one more to come. We will try to train maps that we will probably play against Heroic in the quarterfinals. We take the preparations seriously, and we're not fooling around. We understand that these are the only days to prepare for the playoffs.
[Is there any difference between coming to Major as an ordinary participant and as a defending champion?]
It will be nice to win Major twice in a row as Astralis did, but they managed to win it three times in a row. If we win Major again, other teams will fear us even more.
I don't think that it puts extra pressure on us. However, it may affect you if you think about it a lot. We know that we can win another Major, but we do not focus on it.
[How's your Pick'Em?]
To be honest, I don't do Pick'Ems. Maybe it is a shock for fans, but it is true. I don't do it. It's not interesting for me.
[On Legends Stage]
I was impressed with Team Spirit, their 3-0 run, and their comeback against Heroic. I was also impressed by Imperial: no one believed they could reach Legends Stage, but they managed to beat Cloud9, one of the most stable teams of the previous year, here. Guess they annoyed guys a little.
I don't know whether I should point out Copenhagen Flames' run: they often come to Majors and win two bo1s but then fail to qualify for the next stage. I think they would have been unable to reach the playoffs if every match was Bo3. Anyway, they finally won the most crucial bo3, and now they're in the playoffs. However, they didn't play against the strongest opponent. So, I guess CPH don't have a lot of chances in the quarterfinals.
Maybe G2's failure was a surprise for the community, but it was actually expected. They got a new IGL and a new sniper. I won't say that they deserved to win the Major on the first try and make it into the playoffs. Individually they're great. But as a team — no.
And Cloud9, unfortunately, are out. I don't know why it happened. Abay had that scandal. In any case, I feel sorry for the guys. It was hard to look at their faces, although we had a rivalry. Many people think that we somehow dislike each other, but I treat them well. And I really feel sorry for them.
[On recent scandals in CS]
I think there is drama everywhere. Each player must remember that there is something more important, for example, this Major. When I was leaving for the Major, I told my wife and mother that from now I would abstract myself from all external problems. They will only interfere with me, and I don't want to talk about it, swear with someone, etc.
Right now I'm with my team, and I should focus on the game. This will help me give my 100%, stay focused, and show good results. I did that last time, and it worked. So it might work this time too. It is clear that there may be scandals, some kind of trouble, and so on. You need to prescind, if possible.
[How one can prescind from all the fuss]
If I launch CS and play, I don't think about anything else. If some thoughts come into my head, I think it will be excellent to talk with friends to whom you can pour out your soul. When you speak out, it becomes easier for you anyway. Listen to music, go to sleep, and try not to think about it. When you're driven by one thought, it just kills you. You should understand that this won't help you.
[Dreams besides CS]
I want to get certified as a massage therapist and start doing massage. No jokes. I have wanted to do massage all my life. Moreover, I did massage here and there, and everyone told me: "You have such strong hands." I'd like to learn how to do massage.
Of course, I'm talking about my dream beside CS. In CS, of course, I want to win tournaments and be a top-1 team.
Learn how to do massage and peace everywhere in the world. That's all.
